Where it started
Hashman Bites was created in 2023 by Australian born New York based artist and lawyer Claire Hashman.
Having had braces as a teenager, and then losing her retainer in her 20's, Claire decided to have her teeth corrected again in 2022. Finding the aligner trays too lovely to dispose of, she kept them as she was sure that they had a higher purpose. That purpose became apparent when she needed earrings to match her shoes for one of her New York art shows.
As a practicing lawyer, Claire has specialized in sustainability and developed green leasing standards that are currently used around the world. As an artist, Claire is primarily a painter, with her work often exploring environmental issues.
